Roberson 14th Annual Wine & Food Fest
The Roberson Museum and Science Center will be hosting its 14th Annual Wine & Food Fest on Thursday, April 14, from 5:30 - 8:30 pm. Carol and Joe will be on site offering samples of our wines. For ticket information visit http://www.roberson.org/


April 25, 2014 - April 27, 2014
Spring Wine & Cheese event
We are at it again with the Seneca Lake Wine Trail. Join us from Friday, April 25 through Sunday, April 27 for the Spring Wine & Cheese event. We are pairing our Chardonnay with a Mushroom Caviar. Here is the recipe:

Mushroom caviar

Ingredients:
12 oz fresh mushrooms, mixed varieties is better, finely chopped
1 medium onion, finely chopped
˝ cup butter
1 tbsp. Standing Stone Vineyards Dry Vidal
2/3 cup Vanillen Dairy Morning glory cheese, plain or chive, or mixed.
3 tbsp. fresh parsley, finely chopped.
2 tbsp. fresh tarragon, finely chopped
2 tbsp. fresh marjoram, finely chopped

Directions:
In a large frying pan, sauté mushrooms and onion in the butter over medium heat, stirring often. When browned and soft, add the Dry Vidal and remove from the heat.
In a bowl, beat together the cheese and herbs, then stir in the mushrooms and their juices, beating until well combined. Spoon into a small crock and cover. Chill overnight or up to 3 days before serving with small rye rounds or toasted baguette slices, with Standing Stone Vineyards Chardonnay.

26th annual Taste of Spring
You will find our wines available to sample at the 26th annual Taste of Spring event, held on Thursday, May 1, 2014. This event is at the Holiday Inn, in Waterloo, from 5:30 - 8:00. Proceeds go to United Way and benefit community members in need of food and help. Tickets can be purchased at http://www.uwseneca.org/events.php

Winemaker Wednesday - Vineyard Tour & Tasting
We will start the day with a tour of the vineyards. Take a glimpse at the vines look for bud break. The tour will finish in the tasting room, with a tasting of our wines and delicious bread and sauces. The tour and tasting will last about two hours and each tour is limited to 8 people. The tours will be at 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm. Seneca Lake Wine & Food 2014
Clute Park, in Watkins Glen, is the place to be on Saturday, May 31, and Sunday, June 1. Seneca Lake wineries and eateries will be there offering samples of their products. Join us there, taste our wines and enjoy the atmosphere. We will be there each day from 11:00 am - 5:00 pm.

Smokin' Summer Barbeque
Spiedies are whats on the menu for the Seneca Lake Wine Trail Smokin' Summer Barbeque. Friday, June 6 through Sunday, June 8, 2014. Purchase your tickets through the Seneca Lake Wine Trail site and feast on spiedies paired with our wines! Here is the recipe for your future craving:

Spiedies

Ingredients:
Juice of 1 lemon
Grated rind of 1 lemon
4 tbsp. olive oil
2 tbsp. red wine vinegar
˝ cup Standing Stone Vineyards Riesling
4 tbsp. parsley, finely chopped
4 tbsp. fresh mint, finely chopped
4 tbsp. oregano, finely chopped
4 cloves garlic, peeled and finely chopped

2 lb. boneless pork shoulder cut into 1.5 in. cubes
Or use 2 lb. boneless chicken breast cut into 1.5 in. cubes
salt & freshly ground black pepper

Combine all ingredients in a large, non-reactive bowl. Add the meat and stir well to coat each piece.
Marinate for 2-4 hours at room temperature, or overnight in the regrigerator.
Using metal skewers, place 6-8 chunks of meat on each skewer.
Grill over a hot charcoal grill, 2-3 minutes per side.
To serve, grab a piece of fresh Italian bread in one hand, and pull the meat off the skewer. Enjoy!

Sunday, June 22, at 1:00 and 3:30 - that's the info for our next Vertical Tasting. This one will feature several vintages of Gewurztraminer. Why taste older vintages, you might ask? We think one way to test the quality of a wine is its ability to age, and this is a unique opportunity to participate in our quality assessment. Come and join the fun - it is truly a memorable experience.

Make your reservations now . $20 per person, 1/2 price to Wine Club and Case Club members and free to Barrel Owners*. The price includes the wine, history and information about the wine, vineyards, and the Finger Lakes, and some light food from Dano's. Those of you who have joined us for previous verticals know that the food and wine pairing experience is a highlight of the experience, and we are already researching these options.

Wine & Jazz Fest
We are letting the "Cellar Rat", Jess, out to attend this years Wine & Jazz Fest held in Wolcott, on August 2, from 11:00 am - 8:00 pm. For those who dont know, Jess is our Assistant Winemaker. Stop by our table, taste our wines and allow Jess to fill you will knowledge of what she is currently involved in.

20th Annual Chefs & Vintners' Harvest Dinner
Join us at one of the Capital Region's most premier dinning experience on Thursday, September 18, 2014. Charmaine will have our wines available during the Cocktail hour, which will be followed by silent auction and dinner. Proceeds benefit the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York

Harvest Music Festival
We are in the Corning Gaffer District again for their Harvest Music Festival. We will have wines available to sample from 5:00 - 8:00 pm. Music and wine is a good reason to get out of the house. We hope to see you there.

Batavia Wine Walk
Downtown Batavia will be hosting its annual Wine Walk on Saturday, October 4, from 4:00 - 8:00 pm. A small selection of our wines will be available to taste and will be available to purchase at your local liquor store. We hope to see you there!
